Earthshock: Opener. Tales of the TARDIS is a Doctor Who spin-off which is a series of classic stories being presented as an omnibus and each are bookended by new content. It starts with Earthshock, a story with the Fifth Doctor, Nyssa, Tegan and the swansong for Matthew Waterhouse as Adric. As I have seen all existing episodes of the classic series I won't get into greatly what Earthshock is about but instead address the new content here written by showrunner Russell T. Davies and directed by Joshua M.G. Thomas. For the new content it has Peter Davison reprising the Fifth Doctor and Janet Fielding as Tegan. The Doctor suddenly finds himself reunited with Tegan in the TARDIS but the quite the TARDIS they had known before. It is instead what is called the Remembered TARDIS. As the Doctor and Tegan recount their travels together they soon come to the topic of Adric and this leads into Earthshock. The Earthshock featured the Cybermen and as a result of what the Cybermen were planning in this story it saw the death of Adric. After the main feature is over we go back to the Doctor and Tegan as they are now.as they reflect on Adric. The new content is moving in this reunion between the Doctor and Tegan with the latter revealing what she has been doing since she left the former.

The Mind Robber: Episode 2. The Mind Robber is a story with the Second Doctor, Jamie and Zoe. As I have seen all existing episodes of the classic series I won’t get into greatly what The Mind Robber is about but instead address the new content here written by Pete McTighe and directed by Joshua M.G. Thomas. For the new content it has Frazer Hines reprising Jamie and Wendy Padbury as Zoe. When Jamie and Zoe last travelled together with the Doctor it was in The War Games when the Time Lords sent each of them back to their own time with their memories of travelling with the Doctor erased. Here Jamie and Zoe suddenly found themselves reunited in the Remembered TARDIS and their memories of their travels with the Doctor restored. They talk about what they have been up to since their travels together and remembering what happened in The Mind Robber and leading to the showing of the story. After the main feature we go back to the older Jamie and Zoe, the former brings up Victoria on the time we met the Ice Warriors. This heartwarming reunion ends here and I can only imagine that afterwards the talks about the first Ice Warriors story. We the viewer don’t see The Ice Warriors being retold here no doubt due to the fact that two of its six episodes are missing.

Vengeance on Varos: Episode 3. Vengeance on Varos is a story with the Sixth Doctor and Peri Jamie and Zoe. As I have seen all existing episodes of the classic series I won't get into greatly what Vengeance on Varos is about but instead address the new content here written by Phil Ford and directed by Joshua M.G. Thomas. For the new content it has Colin Baker reprising the Sixth Doctor and Nicola Bryant reprising Peri. The Doctor and Peri had last seen each other in Mindwarp, the second segment of The Trial of a Time Lord but the Doctor later learned from the concluding segment of the Trial, The Ultimate Foe that had Peri had married King Yrcanos who they met in Mindwarp. Now the Doctor and Peri find themselves reunited in the Remembered TARDIS. With this new content it is revealed that Peri is now a widow, Yrcanos having died sometime ago. In Mindwarp, the Doctor and Peri found themselves being reunited with their old foe Sil whom they met in his previous story Vengeance on Varos. This talk of Sil therefore leads into this telling of Vengeance on Varos. After the main content in we come back to the new content of the Doctor and Peri as they are now in the Remembered TARDIS they talked some more. This included Peri saying that she had been to 21st century Earth, Vengeance on Varos having come on in 1985, and remarks how it looks like Varos. No doubt a commentary on the real-life 21st century. Due to the abrupt circumstances of how the Doctor and Peri parted ways in Mindwarp, the new content here in Tales of the TARDIS was certainly heartwarming in seeing this reunion between the two of them and happily it ends with the two of them going off into new adventures like no time has passed at all.
