Mr Peabody & Sherman:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mr._Peabody_and_Sherman
This is the animated 2014 film featuring the title characters who had originated from the 1960s The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show.
This is an extremely enjoyable adventure of the title characters for today’s audiences which involves the title characters plus Penny, a classmate of Sherman travelling in time via the time machine known as the WABAC.
It was essentially enjoyable by the chaos the time travelling endures at its climax.
Of the other characters, this movie has an excellent antagonist in Mrs Grunion, the Children’s Services agent who has the power to remove Sherman from Mr Peabody’s custody and she is voiced wonderfully by the very beautiful Allison Janney.
Mr Peabody & Sherman was released mere months after the 50th anniversary of fellow time travel narrative Doctor Who and Mr Peabody & Sherman cashed in on this anniversary with a trailer.
This trailer misled viewers in thinking it was about Doctor Who when in fact it was about Mr Peabody & Sherman. This was done by a series of questions all of which starting with the word “Who” and pointing out aspects that both the Doctor and Mr Peabody possesses including a bow tie which both the then current Doctor Matt Smith and Mr Peabody had in common.
Mr Peabody & Sherman with what was presented has aspects that also turned up in Doctor Who apart from the time travelling and that includes:
- The French Revolution and Doctor Who depicted it in The Reign of Terror
- King Agamemnon, the Trojan Horse and the Trojan War and Doctor Who depicted them in The Reign of Terror
- Abraham Lincoln and he turned up once in TV Doctor Who in The Chase
- The time periods are distorted at the end of Mr Peabody and Sherman in much the same way that was done in Doctor Who: The Wedding of River Song.
Of the castmembers of Mr Peabody and Sherman, I definitely would like to see Allison Janney in Doctor Who one day.
